This is a Hopi Crow Mother flat doll or sometimes referred to as a cradle kachina. Duane Lacapa is a very gifted artist. He is Hopi and White Mountain Apache. He has been featured in the book Hopi clowns and has won several blue ribbons at fairs. He is related to the Late writer and artist Michael Lacapa who designed his signature symbols on the back of the carving. Duane makes large carvings only. This one is 14 1/2 inches high, overall.
